It is 2019, when young entrepreneur Lukáš Klimčák founds the company KLIMCHI in the heart of the so-called Crystal Valley in Kamenické Šenov. Glass is omnipresent in it. There is a glass museum, a high school of glassmaking and the original brick chimney of the Jílek family glassworks, where we still make most of our products today. We decided to bring a youthful vision to a region famous for hand-made glass, and through our brand we want to make Czech glass known again.

KLIMCHI STUDIO

We are a young team and we want our hand blown glass to bring emotion, joy and pleasure of something special to customers' homes like it used to. Our manufacturers and glassmakers work only with high-quality Czech glass to achieve premium product quality. We also produce pieces that can serve as separate objects and dominate the interior, yet we want our glass to be used as much as possible. We consider it our long-term mission to inspire other young people to take up the glass craft.

"I would like to make a good name for our nation. The history of Czech glassmaking goes back a long way, and I like the feeling that we are continuing its legacy. Part of the North Bohemian regions is dependent on this industry. The fact that a father and son work in the same glass factory, or that his great-grandfather was there, is wonderful," Lukáš Klimčák, founder of KLIMCHI.

PROUD OF ITS ROOTS

The Jílek glassworks, where most of our products are made, was founded in 1905 and is one of the oldest almost continuously operating glassworks in the Czech Republic. The glass factory became famous for its colored glass decorated with optical and relief decors. It also claims primacy in the popular hobnail decor, or the so-called pineapple, which has historically been produced here for several decades. Decors and shapes that have not grown old, and today they are experiencing huge popularity again, especially abroad.

We continue the tradition of optical decors with our new collections, which are created under the leadership of creative director František Jungvirt, who has been working with us since 2020. We are based on the best that Czech glass has brought us. We rediscover and popularize techniques that have been forgotten or lost their popularity, we try to take them to the next level. Historic decors, with the help of minimalist modern design shapes and new color shades, tell a new story of the young KLIMCHI brand.

TRADITIONAL MANUFACTURING OF GLASS ON THE UNESCO LIST

Czech glassmaking is celebrating great success. At the beginning of December 2023, traditional hand-made glass production was registered on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
We are proud that we can be a part of such a historical moment, which will significantly contribute to the spread of awareness of Czech glass art throughout the world.
